My vinyasa yoga training, on-going education, and teaching experience have prepared me to work effectively with students individually and in group settings. With well over 2,000 hours of teaching I am an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) through Yoga Alliance. Additionally, in 2015 I certified as a Jivamukti Yoga Teacher at Radhanath Swami’s Govardhan EcoVillage in India.
In May of 2016 I became Director of Yogawood, the studio that trained me!, in Collingswood, NJ. There I oversee training curriculums, development, and scheduling, I support our staff, and maintain a robust schedule of classes and events.
Whether you’re seeking stress relief, weight management, a deeper, more challenging practice, exploring spirituality, or rehabilitation from an injury, together we can cultivate an on-going practice to address these needs.
I am available for on-site instruction and have mats available. Consider offering your work place a regular yoga practice, get personalized attention in a private class, or share the cost of a private session with a small group of friends.
*Please note that as of September 2016 I am no longer taking on private clients as my schedule is overbooked. I will update when I am again available for private instruction.
Do you own a yoga studio? I have experience offering the following workshops:
Adjusting & Assisting Workshops
This is an offering of four three-hour long workshops, ideally scheduled over two consecutive weekends. Each session offers foundations of physical adjusts and assists, exploring the communication of touch, focusing on respectful, consent-based contact, with plenty of practical application. The first session focuses on assisting “In the Flow” or when students practice Surya Namaskar A, B, and other warm-up flows. The second session focuses on assisting students in Standing Poses. The third session explores proper assists for backbending. The fourth session explores assisting students in inversions, twists, and folds.
“I wanted to say thank you for running those assisting workshops in October! I have noticed my comfort level with assisting has really gone up!”
I have experience teaching modules in yoga teacher trainings, covering topics like subtle anatomy, the kleshas, and vinyasa krama.
Yoga to Access Creativity
I have offered workshops at writing conferences and retreats that use yoga to plumb our own innate creativity. These workshops are a mix of breath, movement, partner work, meditation, writing prompts, editing, and feedback.
It’s hard waking up for 6am yoga, but with Maiga’s sunny, loving disposition and yoga expertise, I’m reborn each and every morning!
In more than seven years of practicing, I’ve been fortunate enough to connect with a few incredible teachers that have mastered the delicate balance of challenging me, cherishing me, and connecting me to what I came to yoga for. Maiga is one of those teachers, and her unique style is as light and sweet as it is deep and transformative. Her adjustments stand out as being exceptionally therapeutic and encouraging. The next time I’m in the area and awake at 6AM, you’ll know where to find me
When I first met Maiga in a yoga class, I was simply mesmerized by the sheer peacefulness of her facial expression & graceful, heartfelt asanas. When I found out she was a teacher, I couldn’t wait to see what she had to offer. Every class Maiga teaches is saturated in love, compassion & kindness. Maiga is genuine & sincere in all that she teaches & practices. Each time I have the opportunity to be in her class, I find myself on a new, exciting journey of the mind, body & soul. Maiga is a gift to this amazing practice.
Practicing with Maiga is similar to how you feel after a belly laugh with good friends. I always feel lighter in spirit and refreshed. Somehow her meditation always speaks to the dust that has brought me to my mat. I feel blessed to count her as a teacher and a friend.
After attending Maiga’s open classes, I scheduled private sessions to create accountability and consistency in my practice. Maiga’s instruction provided me with detailed understanding on how to create a self-led practice, protect my knee after a diagnosis of arthritis, find modifications, & depth in yoga. I was especially impressed that Maiga could modify a class ‘on the fly’ to accommodate how my mind or body was feeling on an giving day. Her flexibility was important to me and it demonstrated a depth in understanding for yoga and teaching.
