In addition to hosting my own yoga retreats, I’m happy to custom design your yoga retreat!  As a yoga instructor you may have found students who would love an immersive experience with you, but find it daunting to organize the logistics of a retreat.  I have the experience to create a retreat reflective of your passions, style, and beliefs.  I specialize in travel that respectfully reinvests in the host community, prioritizes low-impact adventuring, and provides access to a vegan diet.  I’ll help you narrow in on the specifics of your retreat and take care of logistics.  You’re freed up to develop your teaching content, market, and fill your retreat!  Allow both you and your students to truly expand and grow.

I developed a Costa Rica yoga retreat for beloved Colorado-based yoga teacher, Paula Stephens. Here’s what she said about our work together:

“Just thought I would give you my feedback on our experience. The short version…. it was incredible! The food was fresh and healthy with lots of options. The rooms clean and beautiful. Thank you for your work in making this happen. It was really a great experience and helped me shift some of my thinking around my own ‘dharma’ and how I should be of service.” -Paula Stephens

Longing: a Jivamukti Retreat to Portugal

September 2-9, 2017

Monte Velho EcoRetreat, Portugal

Enroll here!

Portuguese Fado music is known for it’s mournful soul-stirring. In it, there’s an inescapable feeling of being ripped from something larger. It’s easy to understand this music bubbling up over the wind-swept cliffs of the Algarve in Southwest Portugal.

Yogis know this longing. It’s personified in stories of Radha and Krishna; we hear it in kirtan chants, and we feel it in our hearts in backbends.  It’s the longing to be connected with our true nature: the state of yoga.

These are the ideas we’ll explore through Jivamukti yoga practice, pranayama, meditation, chanting, and simply being in this dramatic landscape. Expect vegan Portuguese meals (locally sourced whenever possible), good community, and time to be.

As always, Maiga and Beth provided well thought out instruction that was easy to follow. Their ability to adapt was exactly what would be expected of these true professionals.

This retreat was the perfect ‘medicine’ for my body, mind and spirit.  The location was astoundingly gorgeous, and our phenomenally knowledgeable teachers – Beth and Maiga – led meditations and classes that were completely nurturing and nourishing.  I am remarkably thankful for the experience!

The experience went beyond my expectations! It was fabulous! Starting the day with breakfast, meditation, and yoga was wonderful. Wrapping up the day with yin and dinner was perfect. I also liked the Q & A sessions after class each day. The food was delicious! It was my first experience eating vegan for an extended period of time. It was fresh with lots of variety. I like the fact that this was a relatively short, direct flight from Philadelphia. Being in the Caribbean in January was terrific. Excellent job, ladies!

Maiga showed clear organization and thoughtfulness in all of the travel, logistics, meals, and daily schedule. She was always ready with a smile, and every day, it was clear that her priority was making sure that we were cared for and having a wonderful, meaningful retreat. Our meals every day were healthy, vegan, and so delicious that several omnivores on the trip didn’t mind at all that everything was vegetarian! It was so wonderful to have all the planning done and to be taken care of, so that I could truly enjoy the retreat.
The yoga that was offered accommodated for practices of all levels and styles (meditation, yin, vinyasa, Jivamukti.) As for the location, it was clear Maiga thoughtfully selected this retreat – there were spaces for the group to meet and commune together on a daily basis, as well as more private areas like the beach or garden, where one could find personal time. In addition, the group wasn’t restricted to just the hotel (as I’ve experienced on some other retreats.) Maiga was knowledgeable in many offerings and local activities, such as visiting nearby small towns, hiking, local beaches, and excursions to a permaculture farm and a well-known marketplace. The mix of activities and opportunities was the perfect blend of making sure there was something for everyone.
Maiga is a top-notch and extremely gracious retreat hostess who is a pleasure to be around. The retreat was such an affordable, well-balanced, beautiful experience, I highly recommend Maiga’s retreats to everyone!
