Passionate about healthy bodies, relationships, & communities, Maiga Milbourne has been creatively engaging in yoga, ceremony, & travel from an early age. In 2010 she was certified to teach yoga at Yogawood. In 2015 Maiga certified as a Jivamukti Yoga Teacher with Sharon Gannon, David Life, Lady Ruth, Jules Febre, Emma Henry, Tomo Okabe, Keith Kempis, and Yogeswari in Radhanath Swami’s Govardhan Eco Village, outside of Mumbai, India. With well over 2,500 hours of teaching she became an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) by the Yoga Alliance. Soon after, students & her mentor, Beth Filla, approached her to develop ceremonies marking milestones in their lives. Once becoming ordained it was natural to integrate ritual into her offerings. Maiga joined the team at Ceremony Officiants in 2014.
In May 2016 Maiga became Yogawood’s Director where she assisted the organization in a leadership transition, revamped the 200 and 500 hour training programs, oversees trainings, staff development, and creative collaboration.
Maiga trains other yoga teachers, offers continuing education workshops, teaches regular yoga classes, and designs and leads retreats. Additionally, Maiga is a published writer. When she’s not teaching, writing, or learning, Maiga and her husband are working on their own home’s sustainability. They have installed an infant permaculture-influenced food forest in their suburban backyard.
